Just where you are - that's the place to start...

This quote, from Pema Chodron (Tibetan Buddhist nun), was written on a wall at Orange Yoga - the transformative place where I was fortunate enough to complete my training. It resonated then and it certainly resonates now.

Why? Because all we can do is take this moment - the one that we have right now, as yesterday has gone and tomorrow can never guaranteed.

New beginnings are always filled with excitement, optimism and wonder as well as an ounce of fear and trepidation. 'Ifs' and 'Buts' hang in the air and all we can do, is our best with what we have right now.

And where you are, is just a place to start, as unplanned changes throw us off course and give a whole new set of thoughts and plans to negotiate.

I like the way that the quote sums up the non-coveting limb of yoga - aparigraha...- if we just start where we are, we can let go of self-criticism and develop our self-acceptance.
